I am attempting to do the Celtic themed wedding invitation in deep blues and greens and I am a little stuck. Not quite sure what I need to change. Perhaps the text is a little off or I should use a different font.
I am liking the simplicity of it, yet disliking it at the same time. Hmmm, maybe if I leave it alone for a couple days and come back to it.
If you have any suggestions let me know!

Hi Kater, I saw you are "following" my blog so I checked you out! This invite looks great; really bold use of color (which I love)! My suggestion for this invite would be to use a font that is a bit heavier in weight (bigger? bolder?) to balance out the white celtic knot in the top left. Get bold with some contrast & create a focal point somewhere (even if it's just the first line of the invite). Keep it up! Can't wait to see the final.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice Cat! I think a bolder font would definitely help with this design. It always helps to just step away from a project and then get another set of eyes on it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be stalkerish and follow your blog ;) I actually used to work at SLD here in Indy and Debra told me about your blog. Really great stuff! Your illustration work is truly unique and amazing.
I'm in agreement about the bolder type. Another option would be to add a "recessed" lighter blue background box behind the text.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I see is the green and blue fighting for position. You could put the green forward by adding a heavy stroke of white on the sides.
Just a few ideas. Awesome blog, you'll see more comments from me.
